All Contributors CLI

📟 A command line interface to acknowledging contributors to your open source projects.

About the All Contributors command line interface (CLI)

Section titled “About the All Contributors command line interface (CLI)”

The all-contributors-cli is a command line tool that helps you automate adding contributor acknowledgements for your GitHub or GitLab repository. The All Contributors GitHub bot lets you do the same thing from an issue or pull request.

You can use the command line to:

  • Add contributors in bulk
  • Add contributors as part of your project scripts
  • Add contributors as part of your continuous integration (CI) workflows
  • Check for contributors who are not yet acknowledged

You will mostly use four commands: init, add, check, and generate. You can learn how each one works in the CLI usage documentation.

Similar to the bot, the CLI lets you follow the All Contributors specification without maintaining the contributor table by hand. You can also use it on GitLab, where the bot is not available.

If you want to work on the CLI itself, start with the development guide.
